
Breast and Cervical Cancer Intervention
Amen Foundation commenced Cancer Prevention Programme in November 2007, when a screening exercise employing Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), took place in Ovia South-West LGA of Edo State from the 12th to 17th of November 2007.
Following this outreach, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and that of Women Affairs, with technical support from WHO, a State-wide training of Seventy-Seven (77) doctors and nurses on VIA screening and treatment of pre-cancerous cells, took place from 28th to 31st of January 2008 in Benin City, Edo State.
AHF in collaboration with Edo State Government trained medical personnel and supported the establishment of Screening Centers in Benin City (Central Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital for Women and Children), Pa Michael Imoudu Comprehensive Health Center, Sabongida Ora, Owan West PHC, Ighara and Uromi Health Centers, all in Edo State. AHF has also trained and supported the establishment of screening centers at the Federal Government Staff Hospital and Kings Care Hospital, both in Abuja. AHF in collaboration with Fountain of Hope 12NG also trained and set up a center at the PHC, Lekki, Lagos State.
In October 2019, AHF and Gombe State Government, supported by StanbicIBTC Bank established four centers – the State Specialist Hospital Gombe, General Hospitals, Bajoga, Kaltungo and Kumo. This was increased to 13 centers across the State by 2022.

On 21 and 22 September 2022, AHF carried out free Breast and Cervical cancer screening at Ogbe Nursing Home, opposite Golf Course GRA, Benin City, Edo State, free Cervical Cancer screening with Acetic Acid and women who tested positive were treated immediately with Cryotherapy.
Amen Foundation has provided training for appropriate medical personnel, established centres and conducted outreaches in various States, which are Edo, Lagos, Delta, Cross Rivers, Kano, Taraba, Osun, Gombe and FCT. We are working on expanding the number of screening centers nationwide.
